Pasta al tonno

A recipe from my uni times that is easy and economic which can be rustled up from tins and packets in the store cupboard. Quick and comforting one-pot meal and the answer to your weeknight dinner needs.

  • 400gr chopped tomatoes (fresh or canned)
  • 1tsp sugar

  • black olives (optional)

  1. Heat the oil in a pan, throw in the onion and cook for a couple of minutes
  2. Stir in the garlic, tomatoes, and sugar
  3. Season with salt and pepper and bring to the boil
  4. Give it a good stir, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes
  5. Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil. Add the pasta and cook according to packet instructions
